Board meetings and strategic plans from Departamento de Transportación y Obras Públicas de Puerto Rico (DTOP)
The board discussed several critical infrastructure and administrative items, including the ratification of past contract approval processes. A significant portion of the meeting focused on the budget, noting a requested increase to support the integration of the urban train and intermodal programs. The board reviewed mobility initiatives, specifically the introduction of a new integrated ticketing brand, Patín, and the ongoing feasibility study for extending the urban train from Sagrado Corazón to the convention center. Furthermore, updates were provided on specific infrastructure projects, including the installation of a specialized wheel-cutting lathe, improvements to the ticketing system, the addition of backup power generators for operational resilience, and the construction of the new Ceiba maritime terminal.
The meeting was convened but subsequently adjourned without proceeding due to a lack of a required quorum. The board members present determined that insufficient attendance prevented the official conduct of business, necessitating the rescheduling of the session for the following month.
The board meeting included a comprehensive review of several critical infrastructure projects. Key discussion topics included the status of the urban train ticketing system, the ongoing rehabilitation of the train system due to past hurricane damage, and resilience initiatives involving backup generators. The board also reviewed the progress of maritime transport projects, including the development of a new terminal and technical resolutions for propeller vibration issues on passenger and cargo vessels. Additionally, the board discussed planning for the urban train extension, coordination with municipalities for intermodal transport connectivity, and the environmental compliance and design status for the Mosquito terminal and maintenance base.
